… And it was dark again!

Depressed souls dressed
All in black
Waver with the shock
Of sound.

Standing short with
Bent posture,
Stooping low with
Shoulders round.

Issuing smoke and
Belching aloud;
Speaking reduced to an
Unwanted sound.

Writhing like pain they
Move in rhythm.
Hands flailing and hips
Thrusts beyond their gowns.

Some smear red paint
Across themselves.
Some pucker the air
In shallow breaths.

Some pull out their
Tongues with disgust,
While some throw up on
Their friends’ face.

In glory of their
Naked being
They stand stall
Amongst their peers.

Clothes just an outer
Unwanted like the sound
They’d heard.

Suddenly all was dark
And just a few
Slurped the air
With potent disgust.

Slowly the moaning
Grew more louder.
Sharp sounds of stifled,
Blood drawn lust.

At dawn we saw a few
Lying dead.
Some were gone
While some lay still.

Some were left behind
In a messy mass.
Hands, legs, heads
And naked limbs.

The war paint had
Worn away from
The incessant
Violent friction.

Clothes law strewn
Across the field
In naked, vulgar and
Unwanted heroism.

  1. I wrote the first paragraph on 11.07.2012. The remaining was finished on my train ride from Andheri to home on the 13th of the same month.
  2. If readers suggest that my rhyme sequence is not smooth I’d agree wholeheartedly. I’m getting there though:-p
