Higher grounds

15/09/2013 by Siddiqui Fayesal

It so happens tonight
That I sit alone in my room.

Where once the cheery
Bird of sanguinity
Was aplenty to be found.

When tonight I look
From upon a high
The highest I could

I only see a shadow
Within which I have
Spent my long and
Boring life.

I see plans for the world
That I dreamt to
conquer with my lost

A vigour that I had
never really found.

I saw a deluge of diagrams
and blueprints
for the maddening
destruction of
the evil eye.

I saw the same ghost
that perhaps haunted
me last night.

The lethargy I could
feel in my bones.

The lethargy that was
to be the undoing
of my grandest plan.

The laziness, which
when fed with fervor,
turned upon me

For, if one got the chance
to actually see ones folly,
it was not a level ground.

It was a life lived
within the bubble that
one creates;
and lives within it
their whole life.

I forgot that what the greats
had told,
that life is not what I am
to create.

I am just to bid my time
and live it right.

I am to just follow the rules
that the heavenly
smears upon us all.

I am not the creator.
I am the creation.

I am not the greatest that was
I am the worst that one
could be!

I am not the one who was
to plan.
I am the one whose plan
was made.

I tried doing it my way and lost,
so I am starting anew.

I descended to my room and
found that sanguine song again.

With my sights on Higher grounds,
I had forgotten to see what was
laid at my feet.

I picked myself up at last.
I am what I was to be.
